Granada

  • Granada have something of a a selection headache ahead of this game.
  • Starting CB German Sanchez  and starting DM Angel Montoro are both suspended. On top of this Darwin Machis LW (7 starts), Victor Diaz RB (7 starts), Ruben Rochina RW (8 starts), and Domingo Duarte CB (7 starts) are all unavailable
  • Granada are expected to start with a new CB pairing of Luis Abram (5 starts) and Raul Torrente (1 start)
  • With Abram Granada have recorded one clean sheet (the fortunate Sevilla win, more below), and in the one game Torrente started they conceded twice (Athletic Club)
  • Granada who sit 16th rank dead last for xG difference per 90 this season which is arguably a better indicator of team strength
  • They have two wins to their name this season, a 1-0 win over Sevilla (xG 0.1-1.6 in Sevilla's favour) and a 3-0 win over fellow strugglers Levante (xG 1.4-1.4)
  • Only Getafe have had worse chance creation numbers, from their 14 league games they have averaged 0.89 per 90 (12% of their chance creation came from the penalty spot too)
  • Granada's record against fellow bottom half teams isn't great, In their last 10 they have won just 2 with 11 scored and 16 conceded

Alaves

  • Alaves will be without their two starting fullbacks (Duarte, and Navarro) for this game but elsewhere should be fine
  • Last time out we backed Alaves with the h'cap against Celta and although we lost I felt we were on the right side of value.
  • Outside of the penalty in that game, Alaves restricted 0.41xG from open play while generating 1.3 themselves (all from open play)
  • Currently Alaves rank as the 9th best defensive for restricting opposition chances (Granada 19th)
  • When taking on opponents in the bottom 6, Alaves are unbeaten in 7 of their last 10 (W6 D1 L3 - 11 scored 8 conceded)
