RB Leipzig

  • RBL come into this off the back of some disappointing results, on the road Leipzig have won just once this season however at home things have been a little more consistent
  • Leipzig have won 4/4 in league and UCL this season scoring 2+ in each of their games
  • The 2.86xG is from a small sample size of 4 games but still encouraging
  • Here Leipzig will be close to full strength with their only serious absentees being in defence with Klosterman and Laimer both set to miss out
  • Despite having one of the best defensive records in Germany, Leipzig have kept just two clean sheets in Germany this season and they came against Augsburg and Schalke, Augsburg rank 6th worst for xG in the league, Schalke dead last
  • Looking at Nagelsmann's record with RBL at home in Europe we see his side have only ever failed to score 2 or more once, that was against Lyon last season when they lost 0-2 but generated 1.73xG.
  • In terms of team news I like the look of things, particularly in attack, as mentioned above their only absentees are in defensive positions
  • Expected XI Gulacsi - Orban, Upamecano, Halstenberg/Konaté)- Mukiele/Henrichs, Sabitzer, Kampl, Angelino - Forsberg, Nkunku - Poulsen.

  • PSG are expected to line up with  Navas - Florenzi, Danilo, Kimpembe, Kurzawa - Gueye, Marquinhos, Herrera - Di Maria, Kean, Sarabia.
  • Straight away we can see that the midfield doesn't really scream creativity but let's not forget that Tuchel has been without Verratti at CM for most of the season and their chance creation hasn't been that bad
  • In the league their goal and xG averages are more or less the same as last season
  • In Europe slightly worse than last season with (1.7xG average) after two games. Realistically they shouldn't have a problem adding to the goals line here, yes Mbappe and Neymar are the marquee players but PSG will still create plenty.
  • As we see about Tuchel is likely to start Danilo at CB once again, this will be with 5th match for PSG and what's kind of alarming is that PSG allow on average their most xGA per 90 with the Portuguese International on the pitch (1.41 across all competitions)
